Special Announcement: Organization

Dear friends and supporters of LetFoundation

Many of you may be thinking about the March 11 as we start the month of March.

Let’s Talk Foundation, General Incorporated Association, was founded in November, 2011 by volunteers who were compelled to help out after the great East Japan Earthquake. We started the Komos English in Rikuzentakata city and subsequently in March, 2013, we founded a general incorporated association in order to facilitate our effort. We would like to take this opportunity to announce the decision to dissolve the incorporation and transition the group into a volunteer community that provides support in the disaster-hit area.

Our gratitude for everybody from both inside and outside of the Sanriku area is tremendous. You are the reason we have been able to sustain our activities in Sanriku. Thank you.

During the last board meeting, as we went through the financial statements (in Japanese) and revisit our past activities, we came to an agreement that it is time to change the way we manage the organization. Since starting the foundation 8 years ago, the number of people who participate in the activities, support overall effort, or donate through various means increased. At the same time, peoples expectations and frequency of their visit has gone up. On the other hand, we started to witness discrepancies between prospective donors and expectations.

The board members discussed how best direct members energy, effort, and time for the Sanriku disaster area activities while keeping the format of 100% volunteer base. Our decision was to dissolve the general incorporation and regroup as a volunteer community.

After reorganizing the format of our organization, we will resume our various effort in Sanriku after October, 2019. Wed be grateful for your continuing support.
