Run from Barcelona (supporters community)

Run for Let’s Talk “Run from Barcelona to Rikuzentakata” in 2017

Run for Let’s Talk is a supporters’ community that started charity run in 2016. The project in 2016 was “Run 10,000 km from Rikuzentakata to Barcelona”. In 2017, the team took a virtual return trip of 10,438 km from Barcelona to Taipei via America, Pacific ocean and Taichu where Mr Teiichi Sato was invited for making a speech to share his experience and gratitude for the supports.

The team run faster than the plan and virtually arrive to the goal on 17 October 2017. Currently the community members are on their way from Taipei to Rikuzentakata.

The number of community members on closed Facebook group is 55 (as of end of July 2017). If you are interested in joining the group, please feel free to contact us.

After the goal to Barcelona, the discussion started to decide the next trip (virtual trip of course). The discussion reached to a conclusion that the team will go around the earth through American continent. And the new goal is decided to Taipei where we can have xiaolongbao (eastern Chinese soup dumpling) – virtually. Thus the local unit of distance becomes a sizzling expression “xxx km to xaolongbao”.

Between Lisbon to St Jones, the course if long swim of 3,622 km over the Pacific ocean. It is so long and the new distance unit “R” was invented. “R” stands for Rikuzentakata, and was used as “1R = 509 km” same distance from Tokyo to Rikuzentakata. The runners made constant progress every single day, and finally arrived at St Jones (Canada) on 23 May.

After landing to American continent, the team run to west along Round 66. Run along route 66 relived the feeling of people’s power to build the US. It run through the well-known cities such as Boston, NY, Chicago, St Louis, Oklahoma City. Some of them hold internationally famous marathon events. By running these cities we feel the air of different culture and history.

The members of Run for Let’s Talk community post various comments and photos which also added colourful memories during the run.

Flagstaff locates near the national parks including Grand Canyon. Some members travelled the area actually and stimulates our virtual sightseeing. It was too quick to pass by.

The planned route is to land on Taipei, go to Taichu and return to Taipei (for eating xiaolongbao). The community grew fast and run faster than the plan. While discussing the course after this project, we continue running virtually.

We completed to the way back to Rikuzentakata and continue to support Rikuzentakata and Sanriku by our hobby.

A largest community event is to participate Rikuzentakata cheer up marathon. This year, 19 member visited Rikuzentaka (physically). The locals and acquaintances gave cheerful smile and encouragement. We support Rikuzentakata and the residents but we were energized from them. Fluffy snow stopped soon. All of us enjoyed running with bright blue sky and deep blue sea in our sight. This event has been a great opportunity for those who first visit Sanriku for the first time.

Run for Let’s Talk foundation is a charity run community. The community members and the supporters donate for Let’s talk foundation. One of the large donation was 200,000 JPY in July to support “English summer festival in Rikuzentakata”. Thank you so much!

We appreciate our activities in the past 6 years and begin our 7th year thanks to the supporters. Please join us!
