Let’s Talk Foundation supports US-Japan High School Summit in Rikuzentakata since 2012. 2015 US-Japan High School Summit in Rikuzentaka will be held on 11 July.

We recruit 5-10 volunteers who facilitate the group of high school students.

  • Date:11 July (Sat) 9:00-17:00
  • Place: Rikuzentakata city, Iwate prefecture

>> What’s “US-Japan High School Summit in Rikuzentakata”

This year, the summit is one day activity which consists of field-work and group discussion.

  • Discussion topic is “What we can do to build a town where “Normalization (Wiki: Normalization)” has a right”
  • US an Japan high school students will be mixed and divided into small teams
  • Morning: Each team goes out to the town and conduct hearing survey with the local residents
  • Afternoon: Group discussion and presentation

Each facilitator will support one team throughout the day: facilitate the discussion from the kick off in the morning, go out with them to do field work, and help students crysterize their ideas to make a presentation.

It is great opportunity for the faclitators to directly commuicate with energetic high school studens both from US and Japan, and hear directly from the local residents of Rikuzentakata.

On the same day of 11 July, Let’s Talk Foundation hold our monthly Komo’s Engish class@Rikuzentakata. And in July we have bi-monthly BBQ with the locals. You are very welcome to join the BBQ in the night.

Please arrange your transportation and accomodation by yourself. As the summit starts from 9 am on 11 July, you are highly recommended to be in Rikuzentakata at least 8.30 am on the day.

Please feel free to conact us if you are interested.
